Needs dealing sequence of the cards during a game
editFor example, how is the first set of hands dealt out and played? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:D591:5F10:B9FD:ADE1:588C:DC93 (talk) 04:12, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
- The article suggests that the only known rules for Post and Pair are in The Compleat Gamester. Unfortunately if you follow the link and go to p. 150, you'll see that the rules are quite scant. However, my interpretation is that the games goes as follows:
- Players place bets on a) Post and b) Pair
- The dealer deals 2 cards each, presumably clockwise and one at a time, although this is not stated by Cotton
- Players look at their cards and then place a bet on c) Seat
- The dealer deals 1 more card each and players may call for another card if their card total is under 21 (but go bust if they then exceed 21)
- Players then win the stakes laid: a) goes to the highest card, b) to the best pair or pair-royal and c) to the pair of cards totalling 21 or nearest to 21
- There are additional rules including a vying process. HTH. Bermicourt (talk) 08:28, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
