Something missing?

In the section Standardisation>Completion, the last example seems a bit odd. Neither does it follow the style of the preceding examples, nor does it carry any content (at least I don't see the statement).--NerdOnTour (talk) 09:39, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

As currently written this article is confusing. One, the first sentance of the article should explain the subject, e.g. 'Postal Addess Verification' is.. then describe how it differs from 'Address Verification System'. Update - I re-wrote the standardization section (as I understood it) but it is still unclear what this means: Address standardization takes an address that can be as incomplete as a street and a ZIP code and standardizes it by correcting the address (if possible) and also adding missing information (such as ZIP codes) to end up with a complete address..... If an address has only a street and a ZIP code how is a ZIP code "missing information"? Can the author clarify exactly what is supposed to be happening here? Globalize

I disagree. The simplest way to describe address verification is to use a system to use as an example. The article was written by someone living is the US so they chose the US system. If I were living in India and reading the article I may not understand the US system, but I could recognize parts of the system: cities, states, street, avenue. When reading I would be required to translate terms in my head. But I would gain an understanding of the basic concepts behind Postal address verification. Standardizing of names and abbreviations, uniform city names and complete addresses.

If you want to write a translation into your addressing system, go for it. If you want to add information to this article about global implications like a global country code or a brief description of a different system of addressing, go for it. Providers: "A quick google search for address validation or address verification generate a number of useful results for commercial services.[original research?]"

Can somebody who knows non-profits recommend two of the top tier providers of address verification for non-commercial users as external links and put a "See external links" in this section. Robert.Harker (talk) 23:02, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
