Re:La sérénade interrompue: Is there some basis for this interpretation in Debussy's writing, or is it just an interpretation written by the author of this article? I can see that Debussy suggests it be played like in a guitar-like fashion, but is the narrative given also based on a source, or is it just original research? I think We need a seperate page for La sérénade interrompue. It's too in depth, and not the most famous work. it looks very out of place here. Is there a catalouge number for these works? Doctorp9999 09:34, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

I agree. Much of it also constitutes Original research. However, AFAIK there's no cataloguing for the individual preludes, since they are parts of the larger set of preludes. Quendus 11:19, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Titles added later?

I'd always understood that he wrote them purely as abstract pieces, with no program intended, and only supplied the individual titles at some later time, after the first publication, stipulating that the titles appear at the end of the pieces.  ???? -- JackofOz 08:20, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

arbitrary sentence

I see the citation needed superscript, but I really think that, until the citation is acquired, this sentence does not belong. It looks like like the thesis to a persuasive essay.

Book Titles and Lesure Numbers

Is there some guideline that says we should use "Premier Livre" instead of Book 1? Obviously, they were originally named in French, but the meaning is precisely the same in French and English, and the English would be clearer. Secondly, it seems it would also be nice to include Lesure numbers (Book 1 is L. 117 and Book 2 is L. 123). However, I don't know what the policy is regarding them, and I don't want to add them if they're just going to be taken down. --Cjeads1988 (talk) 21:29, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

I think the guideline is to use the forms of titles that are most commonly used in reliable English sources. This is not always perfectly clear, and this may be one such case. A place to start, though, is New Grove, which uses the English translation, lowercased: "first book", "second book", and (in the worklist) the abbreviated forms "Préludes, bk 1" and "Préludes, bk 2". Other sources should be consulted, of course, in order to determine whether this is usual practice.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 03:00, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
