Email address?
editWhy is there an email address listed for a fictional character? I'm removing it.66.95.123.6 (talk) 18:05, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Mma Ramotswe?
editExcuse my ignorance, but what does "Mma" mean? I'm assuming it's an abbreviation like "Ms", but for what? Mamma? Mma simply goes to the MMA disambiguation page, where this usage is not explained. 86.132.141.139 (talk) 16:02, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Mma
editYes, I want to know what this means too. Anyone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.44.75.243 (talk) 13:13, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Mma is a Setswana word, not an abbreviation. Rra is the male equivalent. Translate as Mrs and Mr when used with a surname. Without a name it is the polite way to address a woman/man - somewhat similar to Mevrouw in Afrikaans and the standalone use of Monsieur in French (Bonjour Monsieur = Dumela Rra). No real equivalent in general use in English - Madam and Sir are too formal in many circumstances, Mister and Missus too informal. 139.163.138.12 (talk) 01:31, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Based on real character
editAccording to this McCall Smith interview [[1]] she is based on a real person. Perhaps we should include this? --BozMo talk 06:44, 8 April 2008 (UTC)--BozMo talk 06:44, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- In the article, McCall Smith indicates only that the character of Mma Potokwane (not Mma Ramotswe) is based on a real person.(de Fideli (talk) 18:35, 16 May 2009 (UTC))
