Talk:Prescaler

Latest comment: 15 years ago by Cam Finnigan in topic Rework

Would the term presscaler be used for other kinds of conditions such as one that changes the voltage range of an input?

The example given, in a PLL, is excessively complicated. Can we find an exmaple that doesn't require us to explain a PLL? RJFJR 18:04, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

And why is a toggle flip flop not a prescaler? Arnero 08:22, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

So your viewing a T-FlipFlop as a divide by 2? (Darn, I overlooked that because I think of the input as asynchronous rather than regular). Sorry. RJFJR 13:08, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I went to put the image back, but before I do, is this really yhe best image to use to expalin this concept? I didn't see it as a particularly clear exampleof frequency division. RJFJR 13:09, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

After reading this article, I decided that it needed a lot of work. This is not a lesson on radio architecture, nor PLL design. It is about the prescaler only. I'm an RF engineer, and I could not follow where the previous argument was going. "Mixed" and "error voltage" could best be treated under a separate topic. For "error voltage:, please see PLL. You will see that the structure is now completely different. I have also added some useful links.--Cam Finnigan (talk) 01:55, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
