Drywall grandfathering

Another question to ask on this topic, considering the deep pockets of the drywall industry, why would drywall manufacturers avoid testing their boards the way that they propose to use the product? Drywall manufacturers and contractors know how to fasten their products, which is a huge stretch from the wall designs they tested. In any other passive fire protection realm, such enormous departures from the original test would never be permitted by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
