"Principata e Shqiptarëve"?
editWhere does this name come from? Was it how this state described itself in its official language or, more likely, is it the modern Albanian name? In the latter case it should be removed from the infobox.--Ptolion (talk) 16:36, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Added references. Per Zavalani it's noted as "Principata e Shqiptarëve" sulmues (talk) --Sulmues 19:34, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
I'd like to see some specific quotes, even in Albanian. I have a feeling thay "Principata e Shqiptarëve" is the modern Albanian name, not the name that the statelet used to describe itself in its official language in its official script.--Ptolion (talk) 16:14, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, now I see what you are saying. You might be right in that case, and you know what, even though Zavalani mentions it that way, I'll remove it as it adds nothing to the English version. sulmues (talk) --Sulmues 16:57, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

There is serious problem with this article
edit"Princedom of Albania (1368-1443) was an Albanian principality formed after the disestablishment of Kingdom of Albania, by Karl Thopia. The principality changed hands between the Thopia dynasty and the Balsha dynasty, until 1392, when Durrës was occupied by the Republic of Venice and the Princedom managed to control only a portion of the surroundings of the city. When Skanderbeg liberated Kruja and reorganised the Principality of Kastrioti, the descendant of Gjergj Thopia, Andrea II Thopia, managed to regain control of the Durrës. Finally, it was united with other Albanian Principalities forming the League of Lezha in 1444."
Principality that is Albanian (because it is "ruled by Albanian noblemen") in period (1368-1443) is often controlled by Balšić Serbian dynasty untill 1392 and occupied by Venice from 1392 (text that describes regaining control of occupied Durres is not right, because Venice controled Dures from 1392 untill 16th century when it fell to Ottoman Empire?
If this principality is named Albanian because it is ruled by "Albanian noblemen" then period of existance such Albanian principality should end after it is not controled by Albanian noblemen. If Durres was under Venetian control from the 1392 it could not be united with other Albanian Principalities forming the League of Lezha in 1444.
This article is one of many articles connected with medieval history of Albania (toponym) that need serious improvements. I propose serious fundamental restructuring of this article that should be based on relevant sources. Untill then it should be marked with appropriate tag that informs other useres of multiple issues of this article. I also invite users to participate in improving this article. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 15:12, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Name
edit"Princedom of Albania" is pure OR, and should be a redirect to Principality of Albania. The name should be based on the titles used by the Thopia, or the region they held, if a scholarly name cannot be established.--Zoupan 23:28, 7 August 2012 (UTC) Blocked sock:Ajdebre.
- Yes, you are right. GBS shows only 12 hits unrelated to wikipedia, and all of them refer to the Principality of Albania.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 17:45, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
