It would be nice if the article could be based on a statement of the Principle in a book or an international journal or congress paper. I could not find this. (However, I don't have "Modern applied statistics with S-Plus". Nor do I have a PDF of Nelder.) Also, I could not find it in online dictionaries of statistical terms.
