This page has major issues. The concept of prior appropriation is extremely important to water management in the western United States. The history section here is just incorrect. Prior appropriation water rights did not spring from a Colorado court decision in 1872. It originated in 1855 in California during the gold mining boom, but was influenced by Mormons, Spanish, and Mexican customs and practices. See e.g.:

Globalize article?

As this is an American legal concept that is not used in other countries, how exactly should it be globalized? The notice does not make sense for this article and I am removing it. MatthewFromColfaxLibrary (talk) 16:48, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
