The PBR Brand of Honor is only 1 of 4 award categories that fall under the Heroes and Legends awards and should all be documented together. I have renamed this article from "PBR Brand of Honor" to "Professional Bull Riders: Heroes and Legends" 1. Don't use the acronym as the article name. 2. Brand of Honor is only one of four awards under the Award Heroes and Legends awards. I have expanded the article to include the other 3 awards. I have added the award winners from the other three awards. I have added content to explain that these awards from the Professional Bull Riders, which was not included. There was no reference to the entity who gave out the awards. Very unclear. The meaning of the awards was very vague and general so I made that clearer. I went to the Professional Bull Riders article and added some content and a link to this article. In a little while I will add wikilinks to the winners who have an article here on Wikipedia. I will create an external link for each winner that does not have one also. I may also do some substantive and copy editing on the text yet. Dawnleelynn (talk) 20:22, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Montanabw (talk · contribs) White Arabian Filly (talk · contribs) Letting you both know that I am done with the first draft of this article. I just finished putting in the rest of the external links. I fixed a few typos. And I added citations for the rest of the sentences that didn't have them. If you want to make suggestions or edits, go for it. No rush. Like montanabw said earlier, anything I could do would be better than what it was upon creation. Dawnleelynn (talk) 00:43, 27 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
It's solidly sourced and a vast improvement. However, it was a little too heavily paraphrasing the actual source material and some of the tone is too "PR" for Wikipedia. I did a light copyedit to give you a sense of what I meant, but it needs another run through to rephrase a few more things in your own words. WP:COPYVIO explains why we cannot too closely copy our sources and ideas to avoid doing so. The article checks out OK with the Earwig tool now, but you can use it to see where there is text taken verbatim from any given source article. Where's its noticable (like an entire sentence or a longer word phrase), it's best to either turn it into a direct quote or reword it. Montanabw(talk) 07:07, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Montanabw (talk · contribs) Great edit, some really good stuff here. About struggling with it not being too closely aligned with the source's working, guilty as charged. I still think that will get better with time and as I get used to working with citations. I love that Earwig tool! It's awesome. I will do a another run through like you asked and will have that finished by end of tomorrow. Just so you know, I am a real stickler for keeping things in active voice versus passive voice. And it's not my fault. It was practically beaten into me at my last job for 7 years straight. So any editing I do in the next run will be just for getting things out of wording that sounds too close to the PBR articles and active. It's been proven to make a huge difference in readability. I will add a message back here when I'm done. I've seen that you submitted the article trying to get the quality upgraded, I'd like to see that get done, too! :) Thanks again for the edit and your time, I know you are much busier than I am. P.S. After this done, I'd really like to get LYJ done and submitted too. Dawnleelynn (talk) 23:16, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Montanabw (talk · contribs) White Arabian Filly (talk · contribs) Oh, yes I almost forgot to tell you two about the crossover I found while adding to this article. A bull rider who won the Ring of Honor in 2007 http://www.pbr.com/en/riders/heroes-and-legends/ring-of-honor/2007/carl-nafzger.aspx who quit bull riding around 1970. Apparently he became a horse trainer after that. And he's only 1 of 8 people who trained 2 horses which won the Kentucky Derby. The year after he received the PBR Ring of Honor (2007) he was inducted into the https://www.racingmuseum.org/hall-of-fame/carl-nafzger (2008). So, now his Wikipedia article definitely needs updated as neither of these achievements are documented. Carl Nafzger which belongs to three wikiprojects, none of which are ones you work on, is that right? Oh yes, and that reminds me, working on this article has given me other updates to do. There are a few other bull riders & bulls who don't have their Legends & Heroes achievements on their articles documented yet. So, am putting that on my list too. And I'm glad I was here when a Thanksgiving turkey flew in the other day. Flew into Don Gay adding a line with no citation. It was completely inaccurate so I reverted it. If only people were citing, then that wouldn't happen. It's a good thing I knew that fact off the top of my head. Dawnleelynn (talk) 00:54, 1 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
I'm active in the horse racing project, but I don't remember seeing his article before. It's something that he could be a big winner in bull riding and then train stake-winning racehorses. White Arabian Filly Neigh 16:07, 1 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
White Arabian Filly (talk · contribs) I made a comment in Carl's talk page a couple days ago to see if anyone was watching the page to update it and have got no replies. Also my bad, his Hall of Fame induction is mentioned for racing. It's the Ring of Honor that is not (PBR says this is the equivalent of a Ring of Honor.) Anyway. I'm betting there is information on the Hall of Fame page that could be incorporated. But like you said, I think it makes him extremely notable that he's Hall of Fame in the two sports. But perhaps we should move the discussion after this point to Carl's talk page. Dawnleelynn (talk) 16:34, 1 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Montanabw (talk · contribs) Okay, hey there I've done another run through based on your edit and advice. The earwig tool says it's down to 16%. Of course, there's going to be some allowed text that's the same like the phrase Professional Bull Riders Heroes and Legends for example. I also added a tiny bit of content to make things more interesting. You'll see it's not much. Everything is active voice now too (if you read my other comment). So I'll work on Little Yellow Jacket in the meantime, it's soooo close to being ready on my part. Will just did another's eyes and photo or two. But you know I never add pressure or deadline on my part, you get to it when you have time...like you said it so much better than when before we touched it...and it was just "brand of honor." Ok, check you later! :) Dawnleelynn (talk) 21:32, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Reverts

edit

A few redlinks are OK, but not a hundred of them when nobody is rushing to write the articles, so I reverted this good faith edit. I still don't get why rollback has no edit summary. White Arabian Filly Neigh 23:06, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

White Arabian Filly, yeah, rollback is fast but simple. If you can enable "Twinkle" in your prefs, it allows rollbacks with edit summaries. (Go to Special:Preferences -->Gadgets-->check the "Twinkle" box). Montanabw(talk) 19:58, 25 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
I may try it, but I try not to run too many gadgets or tools because it uses a lot of data. I have three gigabytes per month and sometimes get close to going over, which means extra fees... White Arabian Filly Neigh 22:31, 25 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

User Reversion of Edits

White Arabian Filly (talk · contribs)Hi WAM! You know, Wiki notifications only work about the 1/2 the time. I got a notice when this article was modified by 50.74.102.138 but none that you had done so. Regardless, I saw this person's edits and thought the structural edit improved the article. And recipients actually reflected the honor better than winners. The rest of the changes were corrections to the recipients' names that I had originally made when I typed them. One place they had missed changed inductee to recipient so I was going to come over to the topic and change and also thank the user in the edit comments. Since I noticed that they ignore their talk page like many ip users. I have seen this user contribute on over rodeo topics occasionally, like Dillinger the bull, and haven't seen any vandalism so far. Your rollback doesn't really indicate the reason why, so not sure why. But if you don't the structure, that's fine, we can keep. I'll just correct the names manually myself. Whatever you think is best. I appreciate your watchfulness. Better safe than sorry, I always say. :) dawnleelynn(talk) 00:11, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

To me it appeared to be changing the names and years around. If my edit didn't help, I'll self-revert. I self reverted because my edit didn't help anything. The IP was making a legit edit. For some reason I initially thought that they had added people who aren't inducted. White Arabian Filly Neigh 00:14, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it was taking out some repetition is all and alphabetizing: Like this:

  • 2014 Adam Carrillo
  • 2014 Gilbert Carrillo
  • 2014 Bobby Berger

Became

2014

  • Bobby Berger
  • Adam Carrillo
  • Gilbert Carrillo

It was easier for me to see because I put it together, that's all. Oh, yeah if you thought they added people, no good... I saw some weir vandalism this weekend that I reverted myself. dawnleelynn(talk) 00:26, 13 January 2017 (UTC) Thanks so much! :) dawnleelynn(talk) 00:31, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
