Accessibility status?

Is this station accessible in one direction, or both? This page on the MTA website says it's accessible only in the Manhattan-bound direction, but the MTA map and the "published timetable" (PDF). (91.7 KiB). I am inclined to trust the map and the timetable, because we know they are updated fairly regularly, and I'm not so sure about the web page. Marc Shepherd 18:01, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

rm Michael Mineo

The piece about the alleged sodomy of Michael Mineo by NYC police should probably never have appeared in this article: it speaks nothing to the history or current status of Prospect Park Station.

Moreover, the posting is out-of-date ("charges pending as of 2008"), the cops were tried and acquitted and Mineo's lawsuit ended. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2010/02/22/2010-02-22_michael_mineo_sodomy_trial_verdict_jury.html. I just added a short sentence linking the article with sodomizing incident. Since we have an article on the attack, it should be briefly mentioned here. The Legendary Ranger (talk) 21:09, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

There was proven to be no sodomy attack, so the added paragraph is simply false. It was never more than an allegation, and it was thrown out in a court of law. I have modified the paragraph to reflect the reality, though I still don't think it deserves inclusion. -- Cecropia (talk) 17:51, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

The second line doesn't appear

This station serves two lines: BMT Brighton Line and Franklin Avenue Shuttle. However, in both the title and the infobox only the BMT Brighton Line appears. Is this correct?

P.S. There are some stations with a correct infobox, but with the same problem in the title:

• DeKalb Avenue (BMT Fourth Avenue Line)
• 50th Street (IND Eighth Avenue Line)
• Seventh Avenue (IND Queens Boulevard Line)

This has to do with what is a station complex vs. what is a station. These stations you've listed are not complexes but do serve multiple lines. There has been push-back in renaming these articles with the New York City Subway tag. Station complexes are listed at List of New York City Subway stations#Station complexes. The article names are a result of the naming convention for the project. For linking purposes, we link to an article the same way regardless of whether it is a station or a complex. I'm not sure you're right. For example, look here: Coney Island – Stillwell Avenue (New York City Subway). It's a station, not a complex. And it has 'New York City Subway' in the title and several lines in the infobox. I have more examples.

The consensus seems to be multiple lines on multiple levels. A simple cross-platform transfer between lines doesn't seem to qualify. I don't entirely agree with some of the choices that have been made, but renaming a station requires consensus and lots of work to correct links and redirects. Merging two articles into one is similarly disruptive.

I would argue that 50th Street (Eighth Ave) is a complex because it serves two different lines on two different levels but in the past others have not agreed with that. Coney Island serves four separate lines but all on the same level. They don't interact with each other at all in normal operation. Bway-Lafayette-Bleecker doesn't have a single article because no one can agree on a reasonable name. My hope is that the MTA will rename it into something once it opens so that we can merge into one article like what occurred at Jay Street – MetroTech. A similar situation occurs at 14th Street-Sixth-Seventh. What to call the combined article has not reached a consensus, so it remains two separate articles.

By the way, none of the 6 stations in my second list is listed in the List of New York City Subway stations#Station complexes. It seems that different articles reflect different proposals of consensus.
