Class name
editI'm a bit confused by the Class name entry in the table. Isn't Protecteur the class name as per the article title? I'm also not sure what the HMCS Protector article is about. Is it not about HMCS Protecteur? Cjrother 03:07, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Follow up
editIt is a somewhat tradition to name the first vessle after the vessle class, ie the
Frigates or Halifax class (HMCS Halifax FFH 330)
Destroyers or Iroquoi Class (HMCS Iriquois DDG 280)
Tankers or Protecteur Class (HMCS Protecteur AOR 509)
Mine Sweepers or Kingston Class (HMCS Kingston MM 700)
additionaly
HMCS Protector (the entry on this site) and HMCS Protecteur are the same ship, Protector is a misspelling. It should be noted that on the west coast (the current home of Protecteur) we normaly pronounce it Protector, which is probably where the confusion arose.
also to be noted the photo at the bottom of the page of Preserver is infact protecteur. as can be noted by the protecteur crest in the middle of the forward house and the fact that HMCS Preserver has barber poles on her funnels (Barber poles are a red/white marking)
