Synonym
editSuggest this could be combined with trophobiosis Roy Bateman (talk) 14:37, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- I've started a merge proposal to reflect this suggestion, which sounds like a good idea to me (synonyms, and hence overlap). Klbrain (talk) 09:21, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
- I've looked again at this. My reading is that protocooperation is broader than trophobiosis, and is just a synonym for mutualism. I hence suggest that mutalism would be a better target. Klbrain (talk) 09:17, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- Closing, with a new discussion relating to the new target at Talk:Mutualism (biology)#Merge proposal. Klbrain (talk) 16:58, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Protocooperation
editculture. S. thermophilus produces pyruvic acid, formic acid, folic acid, ornithine, long-chain fatty acids, and CO2 which stimulates the growth of L. bulgaricus. The acid lowers the pH of the milk to an optimal level for L. bulgaricus. L. bulgaricus produces peptides, free amino acids, and putrescine through proteolysis, which stimulate the growth of S. thermophilus. Shxfngy (talk) 10:51, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
