"twice the mass of Mars" is wrong
editIf Proxima D is a quarter the mass of Earth, then "twice the mass of Mars" is wrong, as Mars has 38% of Earth's mass. Thus the right sentence would be "... half the mass of Mars" 2A02:3032:2:6498:1:1:CF4:33D8 (talk) 23:30, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
- Wrong. Mars has 10.7% of Earth's mass, as stated in its article. Do you have a reliable source stating that Mars has 38% of Earth's mass? SevenSpheres (talk) 23:50, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
- OK, you're right.
- The mass is only 10% of Earth's.
- But it's misleading. Because then people think its (surface) gravity is also only 10%.
- But its (surface) gravity is 38% of Earth's. Because it is smaller than Earth. And thus one stands closer to it's center.
- If talking about mass, one should also mention (surface) gravity, because that's what people are usually googling for. They want to know how heavy is a human walking on such a planet.
- Mass is misleading.
