Kant

edit

Why is Kant not talked about on this page. He was a German Nativist! 24.19.159.63 23:38, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I tentatively added information on Kant and Schopenhauer.Lestrade 12:31, 10 September 2007 (UTC)LestradeReply

Poverty of the Article

edit

This whole page could do with far more discussion. For example, what about the distinction between innateness and instinct?

Also there are more examples from the literature of potentially innate knowledge besides language, such as beat induction, morality, physics, number sense, logical nativism, incest avoidance, fear of snakes, universal beauty, ice eating in anemics, food preference, preference of consonance musical intervals... ~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.13.82.216 (talk) 23:38, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

NPOV

edit

The criticism section strikes me as outright stupid. Some things simply are, although you may need a given technology to recognize them. Awareness and technique go hand in hand, that's simple Kepinsky.

And the idea that some of Chomsky's notions have been proven outright false, well, I think we need a source for that bit. Tcaudilllg (talk) 17:02, 7 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Specific Linguistic Section

edit

I'm thinking of adding in a section specifically on language acquisition as relates to natavism. Since much of Chomsky did much of his work leading to what became nativism through linguistics, this section seems relavent. Obviously I'll link to the Universal Grammar and other linguistic sections. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smmojen (talkcontribs) 03:25, 18 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Kant as a nativist?

edit

I see that there was discussion about adding a section on Kant an nativism way back in 2006/07 above. However, it would be worth looking at some secondary literature and citing that. Whether or not Kant was a nativist is pretty controversial among philosophers.2606:A000:9581:3E00:CAF7:33FF:FE77:D800 (talk) 17:06, 27 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
