Disclosure of conflict of interest edits
editBeginning around 2007, staff of the Information Security Oversight Office—an office of the National Archives and Records Administration—made edits to this and related articles, including Information Security Oversight Office, declassification, and Interagency Security Classification Appeals Panel. However, with my consultation, that program was recently voluntarily discontinued after taking into account Wikipedia's conflict of interest policies. This is the meaning of my recent revert of the latest edits by ISOO staff back to its prior version, while we discussed what had happened.
The National Archives has a long history of mutually beneficial collaborations with Wikipedia and Wikimedia DC, including most recently hosting WikiConference USA. Transparency and open government are core values of the National Archives, which is why work well with Wikipedia. I do not know whether there is a major bias issue with the content of any of these 4 articles—I leave that up to independent Wikipedians to determine—but there was clearly a conflict of interest in the edits that were made. In an effort to make our actions fully transparent, we are posting this statement to the affected articles and identifying all of the accounts that we believe are likely to have been made by ISOO staff over the years (including these and the IP addresses beginning with 207, which trace back to our network).
We invite your scrutiny of the articles and any corrections you may want to make to bring them in line with Wikipedia content policies. Thank you! Dominic·t 20:47, 22 April 2016 (UTC)

Unpaid/volunteer?
editIs it true, as Matthew Connelly states, that the staff of the PIDB are unpaid, working on a volunteer basis, and that it has a very small staff? If that's true, why isn't it mentioned in the current version of this article? 76.190.213.189 (talk) 20:44, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
