Talk:Public philosophy

Latest comment: 2 years ago by Carchasm in topic stub article

The entry needs to reverse the order in which it discusses the two perceptions of "public philosophy". The view that public philosophy is not just philosophy in a public venue is consistently addressed before the view that public philosophy is philosophy in a public venue. That might be OK in itself, but under "Perspectives", the former view is presented in the context of denying the second, when we haven't yet been given the "perspective" for the second. This ordering is confusing. The ordering in "Perspectives" needs to be reversed, and then the first paragraph should also have the ordering reversed to be consistent.

edit

I have stubified this article as it appears to have been mostly an (uncited) debate about the exact meaning of the term "public philosophy." that turned into a tug-of-war on this article. Per WP:NPOV I removed the POV pushing parts of the article, and removed the parts that were just repeating the same sentence over and over and paraphrasing in slightly different ways. This resulted in very little remaining content.

It's not clear to me if there exist secondary sources that can cover this article from a neutral perspective, or WP:SIGCOV about anything to do with this field of study other than debates about what the term means. If there are not, we should delete the article. - car chasm (talk) 17:19, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
