Free End
editThis concept makes no sense physically! The kind of attachment at both ends must be specified! Without attachment there is no strain and there is no pulse at all!

In the version from 8 May 2009 it is much better, saying:
- "On the other hand, if the end of the rope is lying on the floor such that it is free to move up or down when the pulse reaches its end, then it could be said that the pulse is approaching a free end."
Unfortunate "improvement" of a text that makes sense by somebody who should have kept "hands-off"!
