I don't understand the purpose of the creation of this article because almost all of the details are already contained in the article on the Columbia University Physics Department. The department is famous in the history of physics, and it's fair that it deserves and article, but the details cannot be separated from the history of the building proper. Therefore a single article encompassing the details of the department and the building will suffice. Please list any and all objections to this proposition. - BeardedPhysicist 23:04, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I created the new article partially because the building has functions other than that of home to the physics department, and partially because as a National Historic Landmark it stands on its own as something worth referencing. Moreover, the physics department is not synonymous with the building; most of its major experiments seem now to be carried out at locations outside New York City altogether. cjs 22:12, 17 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I suppose that might be fair, but may I ask why the need to remove the iconic image of Pupin Hall from the page of the physics department? - BeardedPhysicist 04:13, 18 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good point; I'll put it back. cjs 04:22, 18 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
