Contradiction/Confusion
editThey appears to be contradictory – or least, confusing – info about the history of the company’s name and acquisition of other companies. As it stands, it says the company was founded as Slumber Parties, changed its name to Pure Romance, and then later acquired Slumber Parties.
After flagging the section, I noticed that the two Slumber Parties were based in different states. So I’d guess that they were unrelated prior to the acquisition. But given the high degree of similarity overall (same names, same types of products, both mlms) a brief clarification would be helpful. (Technically I’m just guessing, so I’ll leave it for someone who knows the actual facts.)
Full disclosure, I’ve been scatterbrained all day. On a good day I might have needed a second look, but not a third or fourth! X-D

Pure Romance is a sexual wellness company that sells adult products including sex toys [1] Patty Brisben, a former pediatrician's assistant, founded the company Slumber Parties in Loveland, Ohio 1993.[4] Her business used contract salespeople to sell sex toys, lotions, and massage oils through at-home parties.[6] In 2000, the company had six full-time employees and had annual sales of less than $2 million.[6] Brisben's son, Chris Cicchinelli, joined the company in 2000 and encouraged his mother to expand beyond local sales into markets such as St. Louis, Missouri.[6][7] By 2003 the company had $30 million in sales, 3,500 consultants, and was active in 46 US states and the US Virgin Islands.[6][8] The company was renamed Pure Romance in 2003.[6] In 2011, Pure Romance expanded into South Africa and Australia.[8] In 2012, Cicchinelli took over the position of President and CEO while Brisben remained chair of the company. At this time, the company reported having $100 million in annual sales, building on the popularity of the recently published erotic romance novel 50 Shades of Grey. [9][4]. In 2014, Pure Romance purchased Slumber Parties, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, based company that sold similar products. [12] In 2016, the company purchased Passion Parties, another competing company with a similar product line, expanding the company into the Canadian market.[12] Over 5 million women attend a Pure Romance party every year. [2] The company reported $282 million in sales in 2021 and has more than 30,000 consultants. [3] Pure Romance has Consultants in the US, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. In April 2023, Pure Romance removed the multilevel marketing, or MLM, aspect of its business and adopted a more omnichannel approach.[4] Eliminate sections on "criticism" and "see also"
Pure Romance is now an omnichannel business References

edit- Your edit request could not be reviewed because the provided references are not formatted correctly.[a] The citation style predominantly used by the Pure Romance article is Citation Style 1 (CS1). The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.[b] Any requested edit of yours which may be implemented will need to resemble the current style already in use in the article – in this case, CS1. (See WP:CITEVAR.) In the extended section below titled Citation style, I have illustrated two examples: one showing how the edit request was submitted, and another showing how requests should be submitted in the future:
Citation style

In the example above there are three URL's provided with the claim statements, but these URL's have not been placed using Citation Style 1, which is the style predominantly used by the Pure Romance article. Using this style, the WikiFormatted text should resemble the following:
In the example above the references have been formatted according to Citation Style 1, which shows the author, the source's name, date, etc., all information which is lost when only the links are provided. As Wikipedia is a volunteer project, edit requests such as yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review. |
Kindly resubmit the edit request below at your earliest convenience, taking care to ensure that it makes use of CS1. If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor. Regards, Spintendo 20:51, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
Notes
- ^ The fault for this formatting error may have originated with the automated prompts used by the edit request template, which asks for a COI editor to "supply the URL of any references used". While the resulting omission of information would not be the fault of the requesting COI editor, it nevertheless remains their responsibility to supply the references formatted in the style used by the article.
- ^ The use of bare URLs as references is a style which is acceptable for use in Wikipedia. However, general practice dictates that the style already in use for an article be the one that is subsequently used for all future additions unless changed by editorial consensus.[1]

Guideline: It is normal practice to defer to the style used by the first major contributor or adopted by the consensus of editors already working on the page, unless a change in consensus has been achieved. If the article you are editing is already using a particular citation style, you should follow it.
