Fair use rationale for Image:Chaj-02-preview.jpg
Image:Chaj-02-preview.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 17:33, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
I'll copyedit as I read through; please revert as necessary if I screw anything up.
- The lead seems a bit short, particularly as much of the first paragraph gives information about the CVZ rather than specifically about the subject of the article.
- Expanded it a bit.
- Should the lead start "The Purico complex is..."? You use "The Purico complex" later in the article. Similarly, should it be "The Licancabur volcano was constructed..."?
- Yes, I think so, but Licancabur should stay as it is.
- Can we get a caption for the panorama just above the Geology section?
- On the basis of the file description, it can be done, although there won't be a source for this.
To the west, the shield drops down to a bajada close to the margin of the Salar de Atacama, a bajada being a structure formed by debris flows and gravel fans
: suggest "To the west, close to the margin of the Salar de Atacama, the shield drops down to a bajada (a structure formed by debris flows and gravel fans)".
- Done.
Clockwise starting from the west this semicircle includes
: "includes" needs a subject; perhaps "Clockwise starting from the west this semicircle the complex includes"?- I misread this sentence; it's fine as is. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 15:51, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
the 5,262, 5,462 metres (17,264, 17,920 ft) Cerro Aspero-Cerro Putas (23°5′0″S 67°42′0″W and 23°6′0″S 67°43′0″W) to the south
: this is ugly and very hard to read.
- Fixed.
- [1] is a dead link; not an issue for GA, but you may want to fix it. It's in footnote 41.
- Fixed.
A north-south trending system of fractures and conspicuous normal faults cuts across the western margin of the Purico complex in north-south direction
: repeats "north-south".
- Removed.
Characteristic for the Purico ignimbrite are the so-called "banded" pumice
: should be "is the", unless pumice is implicitly plural here.
- Changed.
Such hydrothermal alteration processes are also the origin of the sulfur deposits at Purico and other volcanoes in the world
: why mention other volcanoes here, and almost nowhere else? This is surely an obvious observation -- almost any process described in this article applies to volcanoes elsewhere.
- Removed.
Aspero was considered to be of Holocene age; later dates of 180,000 ± 20,000 years ago were obtained on Aspero and Chascon
: assuming I'm interpreting this correctly, I suggest "Aspero was once considered to be of Holocene age; later, dates of 180,000 ± 20,000 years ago were obtained on Aspero and Chascon". The comma after "later" avoids the reading of "later dates".
- Changed.

- Good enough to promote. I'll leave the panorama caption to your judgement. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 16:16, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
Merge proposal
As it stands, Alitar is just a sub-component of this volcanic complex and has little content. Is there a reason to keep it separate? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 15:03, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
Sources on bacteria
[2], [3] and [4] are about bacteria discovered there, but they are the first source. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:13, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
Official names
Official names for "Honor" and "El Cerillo" are, respectively, "Honar" and "El Cerrillo" (double r). English-language sources can have typos. On another matter, it could be worthwhile to give coordinates for "Dome D". Jespinos (talk) 20:55, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
