Move, or authenticate transliteration
editThe Town Locator search engine of the JewishGen website gives only one transliteration for this place name: Pushcha-Voditsa. This differs in several points from the present page name here. What authentication is there for the present spelling, or is there justification for a correction and move to another transliteration? -- Deborahjay (talk) 07:50, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- Normally we stick with the local spelling unless there is overwhelming acceptance of a more well known anglicised version; such as Kyiv which is much more well known in English as Kiev.
- It seems that the local spelling is as in the wiki article but I can only point you to this Kyiv restricts 2 tramway lines in Puscha-Vodytsia and Podil on July 24-27 or this [1] for now
- I seem to remember that many Americanised spellings come from Russian names rather than Ukrainian and this often causes problems. Perhaps you can persuade the JewGen to change it's spelling ? I would hate to see such things applied to US/UK pronunciations - Noo Yawk/Barksher (New York/Berkshire) etc lol
