Qieding District, Kaohsiung → Qieding District – This article was moved to Cieding District as a result of the above move discussion at Talk:Fengshan District. As it is pointed out in the past discussion, although the official Taiwanese translation of 茄萣 is Qieding, the local Kaohsiung City Government does not name its districts by Hanyu Pinyin, but Tongyong Pinyin, which would be Cieding. Also, the official Cieding government website uses Cieding. Twoggo (talk) 02:44, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
- Note: was Qieding District, Kaohsiung → Cieding District before update noted below. P.I. Ellsworth ed. put'r there 19:34, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- Comment I'm a bit confused, the RM discussion you linked is from 4 years ago, and there was no consensus. But then all the articles were moved anyway? 162.208.168.92 (talk) 03:25, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hmmm, you are correct. I saw that these were moved and assumed they were done so because of the discussion. It seems all of them were moved back in 2019 by another user. And this one was moved back to Hanyu pinyin another time later. Taking a look at the Kaohsiung govt website, it seems they don't even have a consensus on the English spelling. It has Cheting instead of Cieding (local district office spelling) or Qieding (Taiwan official romanization). Perhaps a move is rather hasty until they sort out the official spelling. Twoggo (talk) 23:51, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
- Update Updated the move request to be removing unnecessary city name disambiguation. There are no other articles with the same name as any of the spelling Cieding/Qieding/Cheting. Following the Chinese district naming convention. The district name spelling does not warrant a change until further widespread adoption of any of the three spellings.
