Issues for the Next Overhaul

edit

Sorry for commenting only. I have neither the time, nor the in-depth knowledge ...

1) NPOV
"Communist" is not a neutral term. The Vietcong's main motivation was liberation from foreign forces, and re-unification. Thus "Communist" should be in most instances be replaced with "Liberation Forces". If you don't like that, then call them "Vietcong", or "Northern Vietnamese" (but that leaves out the local forces that joined them). Also, "Vietnam War" is an US-centric term.

2) UXOs
There are many more NGOs involved in clearing up the mess. Including US Veteran Organizations. And Germans, to name a few. And this is still ongoing now, in 2008.

3) Shelling and Bombing
Somebody should add a sad record that the town of Quang Tri holds: See e.g. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/01/0107_040107_tvbombdigger.html "More bombs were dropped by American planes in the Quang Tri province in Vietnam than in the whole of Europe in World War II," said Tony Edmonds, professor of history at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and author of the book The War in Vietnam. "It's one of the most bombed places on the planet."

Bru minority

edit

I don't think blanking of this text was the answer; improve, don't blank. It must have been added for a reason.

The main language spoken in the province is Eastern Bru, a Mon-Khmer Katuic language. Alternate names are Bru, Brou, Van Kieu, or Quang Tri Bru. There are at least two dialects, Mangknog and Tri.[1] Badagnani 01:32, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removal of war aftermath and UXO content

edit

Revision 837123697 removed a fair amount of content about UXO and removal by NGOs, definitely not a minor edit. Should some of this content be worked back into the article, or was it all out of scope for an article about the province? Suriname0 (talk) 17:19, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
