Quake II
editA lot of details about the Quake II engine are at Quake II. This needs to be sorted out and all information that is more relevant for this article needs to be moved here. Just FYI. I'll probably go over both articles throughout the week. K1Bond007 22:35, Jun 10, 2005 (UTC)
Half-Life
editThe Half-Life engine used very small portions of the Q2 code, from what I understand, it was networking. I added that, but perhaps someone can clear up exactly how much of each engine went into that game? (though it was definitely very Q1 with a lot of Valve code)
- I don't know what was used, but you are right that it was mostly a heavily modified Q1 engine with some Q2 code. We should probably just remove it from the intro altogher. K1Bond007 05:27, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
Also Quake
editThis article is misleading, as id tech 2 seems to include both the Quake engine and the Quake 2 engine.[1] Who is like God? (talk) 21:32, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
id Tech 2 = Quake 1 & 2
editPeople often confuse id Tech 1 for the engine used for Quake 1, which was actually id Tech 2. id Tech 1 is the engine used for Doom and Doom II. Accordingly, I'm getting rid of the section stating that half-life's goldsrc was not based on id Tech 2. It was. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.88.65.205 (talk) 23:53, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Infobox updates
editHey everyone. Yesterday I updated the infobox to include more detailed information. I'll try to make the infobox information and detail consistent for the Quake and Quake 2 pages as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BenjaminRose1991 (talk • contribs) 23:56, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

PlayStation
editIGNPSX: Are you using a brand new engine to create Quake II on the PlayStation, and if so, what are its strengths, and how will it make Quake II unique on the PlayStation?
Chris: For Quake II we're using a completely new engine.
