Civil parish

edit

Quarrendon is a civil parish and is listed as such on the Bucks CC website Civil parishes. - Scribble Monkey (talk) 10:39, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I knew that was the case when I saw the changes last night, I just couldn't find the list on the County Council website. What I did find is that it doesn't have a parish council and I'm not sure if that matters or not to the accuracy of the article. -- roleplayer 12:18, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
It looks like Quarrendon normally has a Parish Meeting rather than a Parish Council, but the role of Parish Clerk is currently vacant. - Contact details for parish councils and meetings . - Scribble Monkey (talk) 12:46, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I see. That would appear to suggest therefore that the info regarding the civil parish should indeed be re-inserted, and that the edit to List of civil parishes in Buckinghamshire be reverted. -- roleplayer 13:29, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi all, If you look back on the article history you will see it was I that added the civil parish ref in June [1] based on the info on the Bucks CC site. Since then I have been progressively correcting / adding info boxes for the parishes where these were missing or the population data from 2001 census and the Lists of Parishes for the Districts. All was going well until I got to Quarrendon when I failed to find it listed in the COI database under Quarrendon Parish so I tried several post codes from the geographic area where the parish should be and all it produced was Aylesbury CP [2] with its northern edge sticking suspiciously out where I would have expected the Parish to be. So I looked at the Aylesbury TC site [3] and see Quarrendon as a ward. Further research unearthed this [4] which led me to conclude that the parish had very recently been incorporated largely into Aylesbury TC with the remainder of the parish included within other adjacent parishes. The evidence which nails this is to be found back on the COI site [5] which shows that the outline of the Quarrendon Ward is almost coterminus with the old parish boundary. The reference to a vacancy on the AV DC site is I think probably just down to the web administrator and Bucks have it listed on the parish page but not elsewhere. Hence my reversion. One interesting phrase in the notification of electoral wards, the pdf above, is the use of the term 'Parish ward'. Not familiar with this as terminology but concluded it is distinct from a civil parish, hope this helps explains the logic and actions. Tmol42 (talk) 20:07, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Seems like a comprehensive justification to me. Thanks for the info. - Scribble Monkey (talk) 00:15, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Quarrendon, BuckinghamshireQuarrendon – The housing estate is named after the village, as all 3 topic listed on the DAB refer to the same place, per WP:DABCONCEPT we could just delete the DAB and have a hatnote to the estate from here. If this is not moved, it should go back to Quarrendon (village). Crouch, Swale (talk) 10:52, 5 August 2018 (UTC) --Relisting.  — Amakuru (talk) 16:34, 12 August 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. Quarrendon now seems to refer to the estate, so this should be Quarrendon (village). Peter James (talk) 18:56, 7 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
When I Google Quarrendon, I get more results for the village, wouldn't a hatnote to the estate be enough? Crouch, Swale (talk) 13:04, 8 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Comment: See pageviews for both pages: [6]. They are pretty similar, but the village usually takes the lead. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 16:03, 20 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
