I'm under the impression that these are a distinct tribe from the Quechua of Peru. Gringo300 05:20, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Yes, the Quechan and Yuma are identical, and the Yuman article should be merged into the Quechan one. Let me know if you'd like me to do so. RhymeNotStutter 02:37, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Greeting. Would like to propose adding the following article as an external link. It talks about "Yuman Mythology". I think it is good reference material. The article can be found at - Yuman Mythology

Quechan peopleQuechan – Target title is currently only redirect to current title, created on May 17, 2011 by Kwami in moving "Quechan" to "Quechan people", without comment or discussion. The standalone title had stood since the first version of the article by fredbauder on June 19, 2002, almost nine years of stability at that title before it was arbitrarily moved. As per closures of similar RMs in recent days by Cuchulainn and others, "consensus has spoken" that the people are the PRIMARYTOPIC, as stated by him here re the Northern Tutchone title. Guidelines such as Wikipedia:Article titles#Use commonly recognizable names and the guideline Wikipedia:Naming conventions (ethnicities and tribes) call for this move, as does WP:Conciseness and WP:Precision, WP:NCDAB and more.. First Contact

edit

In the article about Hernando de Alarcón it says he had contact with the Yuma speaking indians, some 200 years before Juan Bautista de Anza — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C4:AA0C:2700:9D79:1576:565A:5452 (talk) 13:10, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
