Contestant Progress table with colors
editHi, can I keep the colored like this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Queendom_Puzzle&oldid=1168398950 or at least like this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Queendom_Puzzle&oldid=1168407878
What can I do to kept that table to be colored. Please advise in a most simple way if you can. Thank you! Gok-kun1006 (talk) 16:15, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Color usage must be aligned with MOS:COLOR i.e. "
ensure that color is not the only method used to communicate important information
". However, if color is necessary convey information then "[the color] status is also indicated using another method, such as an accessible symbol matched to a legend, or footnote labels. Otherwise, blind users or readers accessing Wikipedia through a printout or device without a color screen will not receive that information.
" The first example is clearly overkill and heavily misusing color in violation of MOS:COLOR, whereas the second example is unclear what the color is even supposed to convey to the readers and also clearly doesn't cater for "blind users or readers accessing Wikipedia through a printout or device without a color screen
". The entire table is simply confusing with and/or without the usage of colors, and should be broken down and split by episodes and/or rounds with introduction of WP:PROSE similar to Queendom (TV program) where color isn't necessary to convey information. I oppose the introduction of colors to the table as I see no actual purpose in correctly conveying information and would only further clutter the already messy and confusing table which also doesn't meet WP:ACCESS guidelines, I however support breaking down the table and adding prose to convey the information in a better way. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 16:33, 2 August 2023 (UTC)- Noted. After I read your explaination. I think there no way to add color back to that table... Gok-kun1006 (talk) 16:48, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Paper9oll How about I made a small box above that table to explain what the color are represent for? I see many survival show pages doing that. Gok-kun1006 (talk) 00:32, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
