WikiProject?
editI'm thinking about starting a WikiProject for Textile Arts that would include all the usual crafts (quilting, sewing, weaving, knitting, crochet, lace, etc.) plus clothing and fashion design. We basically need to find 5 editors who are interested in contributing. A WikiProject would allow us to use tags to monitor the progress of our field, using the [[Mathbot assessments. We could also make common templates, info-boxes and whatnot, and it might draw other textile-enthusiasts to us. I'd be willing to get it off the ground, programming-wise; are people here interested in joining? Thanks! :) Willow 10:17, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Updated Category
editHopefully this will update this category to a standard that is acceptable to Wikipedia. I can help you out in this category or any other quilt related items if you need it. Please feel free to let me know if something isn't right on my edits. Pickleweed 22:23, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
African American community

Lopsided coverage
editI added the globalise tag to the history of quilting article because it features little but American quilting. This article does a little better, but not much. It is way too American-biased. 86.137.139.82 (talk) 12:44, 30 July 2008 (UTC) Also "traditional quilting processes" - whose would those be? American, by any chance? They're not universally traditional, and this should be pointed out.
In addition, there is not even much of an explanation of varying quilting styles among American quilters, nor of the importance of the quilting bee to communities of American women (the article on quilting bees hasn't even been started). Quilting deserves much deeper and wider coverage.Paulmlieberman
Many Uncited Factual Statements
editThis article is covered with facts and statements that aren't cited. Particularly the "History" subsection. 65.125.220.4 (talk) 00:49, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Where's the pictures?
editA subject like this needs more than one image.
China section
editIt might be best moved over to Quilt#Techniques because it involves no sewing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:47, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Mystery Quilting?
editI've personally never seen the term Mystery Quilt used like it is in this article. I've only seen it applied to the practice of releasing directions for a quilt assembly at bit at a time, so that the creator doesn't know what the finished product will look like until it's assembled. I'd love to see a reference to this other use of the word, however. Tlqk56 (talk) 21:39, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- This definition was also a mystery to me, since I've only seen it defined as you describe. Nothing found in a short web search. I removed it, since I'm not really sure it fits with the other descriptions of sewing techniques anyway. Cataobh (talk) 03:01, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Now what?
editThe Armour reference is correct, but the USPS reference fails. Now what?--DThomsen8 (talk) 00:10, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Assessment comment
editThe comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Quilting/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.
The items in the History section are not all of equal importance and would be better in chronological order. Some of the material would be better under "Quilting artists" or a similar head. Headings and subheadings do not follow WP:MOS. There are NO references or footnotes given. |
