It is so because although the person is recognized in the west by the Arabic name, he was not an Arab. Westerners tend to lump all middle easterners together in one group, which is incorrect. Qomri was Persian, hence the name al-Qumri is incorrect even though prevalent, perhaps even in his own time, as Arabic was the lingua franca used by all Persian scientists.--Zereshk21:49, 1 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
