Broad-concept article
editThere seems to be some edit-warring about whether or not this needs to be a broad-concept article, or not. My attitude is that its sorely needed, and its been needed since about forever. The problem is that none of the DAB candidates are appropriate for almost all practical wikilinking uses. Almost any topic in algebra needs to talk about quotienting, and, because its algebra, there is need to talk about cosets and equivalence relations ... but linking to the article on group theory that describes these is absurd, because we're doing algebra not groups. Linking to quotient set is wrong, because it doesn't talk about preserving structure. Linking to vector space is wrong, because, e.g. for fiber bundles, its not fibered. Linking to quotient object is wrong, because its abstract nonsense. (Don't get me wrong; I like abstract nonsense, but that just means it is far too abstract for that reader who actually needs to click through and brush up on quotienting.) And so one links to this DAB page, and goes WTF, all the DAB targets are just-plain wrong, and fail to convey the correct concept. That is why a broad-concept article is needed. 67.198.37.16 (talk) 01:29, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- And to get a flavor of what might be possible, there's this version. It's sloppy, incomplete, vague, unreferenced, but its an example of what one could say, if one wanted to. 67.198.37.16 (talk) 01:42, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
