Talk:Rød pølse

Misleading title

edit

It's not accurate to say that

"Pølse is a type of boiled sausage very common in Denmark"

since "pølse" simply is the Danish word for "sausage".

I would suggest that the article be renamed "rød pølse", since this (red sausages) seems to be what the article is really about (and I see that this is also the name of the corresponding Portuguese and Swedish articles). --Laurentio313 (talk) 07:28, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Article too Danish-centred

edit

The word "pølse" is both Danish and Norwegian for "sausage". However, it's only in Denmark the sausage selection is limited to red sausages only. "Rød pølse" literally means "red sausage". In Norway we got a far wider collection of sausages, and many of them aren't even red! The word "pølse" does often, but not always implies red sausages. It's all about context.Ragnar Ekre (talk) 19:18, 25 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi.
First: This article is about red sausages, "rød pølse" in particular. Any info about other sausages in Scandinavia is only of minor importance here. Perhaps the info that is already up, should be moved to the sausage article? That would make more sense.
Second: The article only describes "rød pølse" as a Danish speciality. If other countries also sports red sausages, it should be well sourced if any info is to be added. RhinoMind (talk) 16:11, 26 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi! As far as I understand the article, it's just about the red sausages in Denmark and nothing else. That's why I wonder why Norwegian and Icelandic sausages are even mentioned in the artice. Are they all red, too? The article in the German wikipedia is way better, as always, sigh. They focus more on why the sausages are colored red and that dispute between Sweden (not mentioned here at all) and Denmark. Norwegian sausgaes should be covered by the Norwegian cuisine article, dear Ragnar Ekre. Refards, NorthAmericany (talk) 12:15, 9 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
The reason I mention this is because Pølse redirects to this article, implying pølse and rød pølse is the very same. Pølse needs its own article, and Rød pølse should be a part of that article. Alternatively, this article is to be renamed and rewritten to be about pølse in general, with all it's Scandinavian variants. Ragnar Ekre (talk) 12:43, 9 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi again, Ragnar Ekre. You should make a proposal at the Portal:Food to merge the articles respectively enlarge this one if you ask me. Regards, NorthAmericany (talk) 13:02, 9 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
