Concerns

edit

The rapid expansion of this article makes me nervous and suspicious. I have tried on several occasions to verify the information being included and have failed to find anything that matches on the internet. Which suggests we may be looking at one of two possibilities - original research or more seriously copyright violation from a printed source. I tend to suspect the latter because of the non-encyclopedic flowery narrative phrases that appear in the text, more suited to a book.

I am almost tempted to buy one myself but does anybody have a copy of Kniverton's "Manx Aviation in War and Peace" to compare the article with? Anything that comes close to copyvio will need to be chopped out of the article.

In the meantime those editing the article should familiarise themselves with the need to back up the text with inline citations, or risk having your efforts deleted. 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 13:10, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you, the user "Harvey Milligan" and the ip user "178.16.2.72" have been adding the information and by looking at their contributions i suspect they belong to the same person who has not been editing for the last couple of days. I believe that the only way is to get the book also, you may want to copy-vio the RAF Andreas and Hall Caine Airport articles as well as they have significantly changed them as well. I'm sorry -- but the only means to save this article is to revert it back to a version prior to the addition of the text from Kniverton's book. I've rolled it back to the first edit before April 21. I apologize if this removes a lot of good hard work. I have left the history intact, for the time being, so that editors can duplicate some of their previous work. Thanks for noticing the copyvio. No 1 OCTU

edit

Sorry but what is all this patent waffle about 1OCTU being the "only one of its kind", opening in September 1953 and closing in September 1963?

No. 1 Officer Cadet Training Unit RAF has existed since the 1920s, originally at RAF Cranwell. It only relocated to Jurby in September 1953 from its previous location at RAF Millom in Cumbria. Far from closing in September 1963 it merely relocated again to RAF Henlow in Bedfordshire where it stayed until 1979, returning to its original location of RAF Cranwell. Please explain the wording you have used (especially the only one of its kind comment) and what sources give this incorrect information. 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 18:47, 4 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
