editIn addition to the main runway, from aerial photos (on google maps) I count at least five marked "Short" runways (presumably for Harrier use only) around the airfield (and the ghost of a sixth)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.252.54.209 (talk) 16:14, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
5131 Squadron
editAre you sure it is a previous unit?Cantab1985 (talk) 10:30, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
- http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/raf-wittering-bomb-squadron-make-donation-after-enormous-challenge-1-6830737 As of 2015, they still are based in RAF Wittering. Cantab1985 (talk) 10:38, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
- Fixed, I don't know why it was in the previous section, the RAF website lists them as active for Wittering. Gavbadger (talk) 10:56, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

Wittering History
editPDF of Wittering history was inadvertently added as a ref in a section title. I have converted it to a Source in the ref section. Url is linked so just browse and plug away. Please use the short footnotes citation style; so add the following {{sfn|Lloyd, Walsh, Montellier, Palmer|2016|p= }} and where the 'P' is listed, just insert the page number. For multiple pages use this {{sfn|Lloyd, Walsh, Montellier, Palmer|2016|pp=1–3}} Regards. The joy of all things (talk) 21:37, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
Use of the word 'reposed'
editUser:Climebear in this edit [1] you added the text "A significant amount of development took place to reposed the station including 4 new accommodation blocks for airmen". Please could you explain the meaning in this context of the word 'reposed'?SovalValtos (talk) 18:18, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
- SovalValtos Sorry that appears to be a typographical error. I have corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Climebear (talk • contribs) 18:26, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for that User:Climebear. What was the source you used for the detailed building developments, institutes etc? Nowhere do I see that Wittering had closed prior to this re-opening; is there any source for the date of a closure?SovalValtos (talk) 18:47, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
- SovalValtos No Problems. RAF Wittering was placed into 'care and maintenance' following the end of WW1 (RAF Collyweston closed). This, and the rebuilding of the Station following the Air Defence Review in 1923 are detail in: Lloyd, Furz; Walsh, Tony; Montellier, Clive; Palmer, Ed (2016). Royal Air Force Wittering - from century to century 1916–2016 (this used to be available online; however, it is no longer following a modernisation of the RAF's official web pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Climebear (talk • contribs) 21:01, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
