Layout diagram
editAny chance we can get a better layout diagram? This one is just awful. It looks like someone with tremor drew it hurriedly with a broken marker while riding an old bus with a bad suspension on a gravel pavement, and then scanned it into MS Paint without cleaning up the lines. I'd redraw it myself, but I honestly can't tell from the current diagram what the layout should really look like. The best I could do would be a stylized version like the London Underground map. A search of the web only produces photos of sections of track, not enough to reconstruct the layout. Canonblack 12:23, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- I can describe how it works to you. BTW, I drew the diagram, and I did it in Paint Shop Pro, not MS Paint. I just had a crappy mouse that wouldn't stay in one place. Anyways, here is the description:
One train is on the right side of the station and the other train is on the left. They go out of the station in a curve in opposite directions, meet up on the ground, and go up a long chain lift. The trains then go through a curved drop to the left, level out about 30 feet off the ground (this is a guess), go over the station (but under later track), do a banked turn until over the front of the station, do a right turn (over the level track), and go back to the station. Right before the station, the trains go into a straight tunnel. In the true layout, near the end, one train goes into the tunnel while the other crosses above the tunnel and does a drop afterwards (at least, this is how it was described to me). Sorry that the drawing's so bad. Wikifan42 19:16, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Layout Picture
editThe picture with the layout of the Racer is needs some fixing. I am not sure of the accuracy of this diagram.
Yeah its sad! i could do better in my sleep.
- I drew this, and it was only meant to help explain the way that the trains switch sides, not to be accurate. I don't know the entire layout of the coaster, and, in fact, I don't think anybody who hasn't been on it dozens of times and/or works for Kennywood knows the layout. Oh, and I used a really cheap graphics tablet, so the lines are kind of wobbly. Wikifan42 13:57, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
So if I am following this right, does that mean that each time you ride the coaster you only go on half of the track, then it stops and switches riders and finishes the other half of the lap? If so I think this should be explained in the article. Mwv2 18:54, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
The section of the article showing the layout was removed recently, it does not seem like there was sufficient (any?) talk about it on this page though, I think it is a good addition to the article and should stay.
