ok, Hope I've done this right. Will someone with expertise in Chinese please have a look at this article on Radical 24? Most of the information in fact seems to pertain to Radical 12.

Deleted the offending material, and copied over correct material from WP-zh.
WP-de says that this used to be a vertical line, and that the current form is a combination of that with 1. But I don't know if that is correct. My Japanese kanji dict. does say that in the oracle bone script this was a stroke for 'needle' (now 針), as can be seen at WP-ja, but I don't know about the combining-with-one part. WP-ja just shows a bulb in the middle of the needle expanding into a cross stroke. kwami (talk) 00:41, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
