Talk:Radio-controlled submarine

Now that I've moved the page already, I'm revising my opinion. I think it could serve as a start to a new article on Radio controlled vehicles.

Wikipedia is not a place to sell products. See WP: What Wikipedia is not for more information. If you would like to put in a generic section for ready to run submarines that would be appropriate under the Hobby Section. The "Other" section is intended for non-model radio control submarines - such as camera sleds and so forth. Seaphoto 01:19, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

More information about radios operating underwater

edit

I am hoping someone who is experienced with or has knowledge of this hobby can explain how the radio control signals are maintained in a model operating underwater. Do they require an antenna that stays above water? Is there a depth limitation before the signals degrade too much for the reciever to operate? What are the risks associated with operation in water with limited visability such as a lake rather than a clear pool and how can they be mitigated? Are there hobby class kits? What are typical scales and dimensions? Can more detail of the individual systems and channels be described? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.31.184.166 (talk) 18:05, 1 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

The discussion regarding types of ballast systems

edit

If we are to have full description of the different types of ballast system, then we need to stop deleting other peoples efforts here. RCABS is a system used by a lot of people and is an excellent representative of a tiny market. Lets see the various ballast systems described fully without editors deleting the work just because they have a personal dislike of a particular system please.

Please back up your statements with facts, i.e. number of RC submarines in operation and breakdown of ballast system types. Not just from your own commercial site, but all of the sites in aggregate. Verifiable data please.

How-To Format

edit

The article seems to contain quite a bit of "how-to" advice. I would recommend a general clean-up and a few more sources; there's only one and the article has four sizable paragraphs plus an intro. Springfield2020 (talk) 03:48, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
