Trade speculation
editI am removing trade speculation because it is unsourced. It has not been relayed in a reliable medium. The closest a reliable media has said is there is TALK about it. The problem with talk about is that talk about a possible trade is not encyclopedia worthy; and currently only blogs are reporting the trade having happened.
- Wikipedia:Reliable sources – blogs, and radio speculation are not reliable sources
- Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons – remove unsourced or poorly sourced material
- Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not – 1.8 indiscriminate collection of information; 1.9 not a crystal ball.
Please do not add the trade speculation. Add the TRADE, when and if it happens.

- Not done Provide a source that says the deal has been finalized first. --Muboshgu (talk) 02:53, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm the guy who semiprotected the article - but within the last 20 minutes both the New York Post and ESPN started running a story about the Yankees signing him. On the other hand I don't know if this counts as "official confirmation" or whatever and both stories are based on an unnamed source. AlexiusHoratius 03:01, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- It's not confirmation. This means they've come to an agreement, but it's still pending a physical, which won't be performed for at least a few days. The Yankees are notorious for delaying the official announcements of their deals more than other teams. --Muboshgu (talk) 03:12, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Okay - fair enough. (I'm sort of a baseball fan but have never been highly interested in pending trades.) Waiting for a signed contract or an official announcement is probably best. AlexiusHoratius 03:19, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- We hot stove nerds know that these deals can fall through from time to time due to failed physicals. It's unlikely, but possible that this deal doesn't go through. We at WP:BASEBALL use the official MLB rosters as our final source on these matters. --Muboshgu (talk) 03:28, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

- Please provide a source that says he signed. All sources I see say he agreed to a deal, but it's pending a physical and his signature. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:27, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
