Advice for the editor who says he is Mr Rafey Habib
editDear Sir, a lot of the information you wanted to add or change was unreferenced. Wikipedia requires citations to reliable, authoritative, and neutral third-party sources. Two good sets of Wikipedia guidelines that I have found really useful can be found HERE and HERE. Regards, George Custer's Sabre (talk) 17:06, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
Third-party sources
editThe biographical information on Habib comes only from sources directly connected to Habib. Even if these details are correct, they should not be added again without third-party sources. I hope other editors will look at this page (and the content in question) and share their views. George Custer's Sabre (talk) 09:14, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
- None of the sources in the article are controlled by Habib. Some of them are primary rather than secondary sources (the GUST faculty listing and Rutgers on-leave faculty listing) but they are nevertheless independent of Habib, and reliable. In any case, sources controlled by the subject are allowed for basic factual information about the subject, like where they were educated; see WP:BLPSELFPUB. —David Eppstein (talk) 17:01, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
- Dear David Eppstein, thank you very much. I’m glad to learn from you. Thanks for your patience and guidance. All good wishes, George Custer's Sabre (talk) 17:07, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
Poems
editWhat makes this particular one worth mention above all his others?
- User:David Eppstein: I am simply trying to expand the article. First reference I investigated has a DYK hook. JorgeLaArdilla (talk) 19:05, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- If you think this should become a DYK, wouldn't it make more sense to expand the article fivefold or bring it up to GA status first, and then let the hooks follow from that, rather than dropping a title of one of his poems context-free into a rather sparse article? —David Eppstein (talk) 19:15, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- No, adding a single (interesting) fact is sufficient to impart knowledge. JorgeLaArdilla (talk) 19:25, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- What is interesting about "a poet gave a reading of one of his poems"? —David Eppstein (talk) 19:28, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- I have been editing Islamic poetry. Habib is mentioned there. I started reading this article with that perspective and naturally gravitated to that book and hence that poem. It explains why someone would want to add him to the Islamic poetry article. JorgeLaArdilla (talk) 19:36, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- How does "a poet read one his poems" explain his inclusion in an article? And how does providing the title of the poem but stripping it of the explanation of its meaning and intent provided in a quote in the source you used contribute towards your goal of imparting knowledge? —David Eppstein (talk) 19:40, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- Before my edit there was no content information on Shades of Islam. I named one notable poem.
How does "a poet read one his poems" explain his inclusion in an article?
: Sorry. please explain where in my original statement is illogical otherwise I do not understand my you would ask this question. JorgeLaArdilla (talk) 19:44, 20 January 2021 (UTC)+1- Why are you not answering my question about stripping the poem title of its context? —David Eppstein (talk) 19:52, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- I didnt strip. I only added. Poet >> add poem = Expansion of article. Thats why. JorgeLaArdilla (talk)
- Since you continue to not answer, let me ask more explicitly: Why do you think that listing the inflammatory title of a poem, stripped of the anti-extremist intent clearly expressed by the poet in the accompanying quote, is more informative to readers than either omitting it or actually telling readers what the poem is about? —David Eppstein (talk) 20:00, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- The anti-extremist intent is clearly expressed from the reference. "Rutgers Professor Pens Book Of Poetry On Islam In The 21st Century". CBS Philly. October 31, 2010.

Rafey Habib → M.A.R. Habib – This is the preferred name of the subject, as related to me, his research assistant. It is also the way his name appears on his authored materials eg. https://www.amazon.com/M-A-R-Habib/e/B00A5DUIYA?ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1&qid=1618766525&sr=8-1 Jmcgauley3 (talk) 17:25, 18 April 2021 (UTC) —Relisting. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 10:45, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- The unspaced initials are an incorrect format, according to MOS:SPACEINITS. If you want to format his name with initials, then the correct format would be M. A. R. Habib. —David Eppstein (talk) 19:13, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
- Comment. I'm neutral, but if moved it should certainly be to M. A. R. Habib. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:04, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

His Name!
editIt is silly this even needs to be asked but what is the name of this mysterious "M.A."? عبد المؤمن (talk) 22:18, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- The French National Library entry for him has an answer. I have no idea what source it might be based on. We would probably need a better source to include it in our article. —David Eppstein (talk) 00:34, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
