Discussion of "Tree-Sided Dream" overlooks similar work on Kirk's earlier albums

The long discussion of "Three-Sided" suggests, incorrectly, that it was unique, (other than in its odd "mostly blank side" audio format) as a sort of audio collage. Several of Kirk's prior albums include audio collages, with long spoken sections interspersed with music. "The Seeker", which makes up most of a full LP side of "Rahsaan Rahsaan" (seventeen minutes) is a clear example; "Black Mystery has Been Revealed", on "Right/Left" is a much shorter one. Someone have a discussion of the Ed Sullivan appearance?

In January 1971, Kirk appeared as a named guest on Ed Sullivan's Sunday night show, as a result of the protests which the article mentions only in passing. He brought with him a band including, among others, Charles Mingus, Archie Shepp, and Roy Haynes. What was billed as a cover of Stevie Wonder's "My Cherie Amour" proved to be instead a disjointed reading of Mingus' "Haitian Fight Song".

This article deserves refrences and sources!

Kirk played for Jones quite a bit. This song is on the album Big Band Bossa Nova (1964), originally on the Mercury label. Kirk plays a solo toward the end of the song. – ishwar  (speak) 15:24, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Year of birth

Either that's 1935 or the reference there should be deleted. As it is now, something is incorrect. Experimental Hobo Infiltration Droid changed it to 1936 and said "every source I've found lists 1936", but the reference quotes The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz which states: "The year of his birth has been widely given as 1936, but his birth certificate gives 1935". Please, someone with more knowledge of the subject matter... Mark in wiki (talk) 09:01, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
