Rakatāura → Rakataura – Most common spelling of his name in modern sources, even in contexts where surrounding names have macrons (e.g. Te Kawerau ā Maki, Ōwairaka) [1][2][3][4][5] Prosperosity (talk) 00:05, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

- Support I would normally oppose the removal of a macron as they are generally used in Maori words, but it does appear that in this case it is not used. --Spekkios (talk) 07:10, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: The macron is used by Pei Te Hurinui Jones (although for typographical reasons he gives all macrons as doubled vowels), by the National library [6], and the Raukawa Claims Settlement Act 2014. Perhaps it is a Raukawa/Waikato/Tainui variant? If this is moved, I think the macron-ed form should appear as an alternate form at the start of the article. Furius (talk) 08:36, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
