Rohingya [Musilm]
editWe do not undersand why the second major community name is called as Rohingya Musilm rather than calling the correct new name "Bangli". Is not true that Rakhines were the "Magh" then why Rakhine never want to be called as "Magh".
Bangalis are those who speaks Bangali Language and are staying in Bangladesh. Remember that old Arakan was mainly dominated by three ethnic groups namely "Chañçi", "Ruáñí (Ruaingga)" and "Magh" and Bangali were not included.
- The Kalima were taken on by the Buddhist kings to help connect with their muslim Bengali subjects, not because they were muslims. If the Rakhine kings were indeed muslim, like the sultans of the Malay world, they should have used Arabic outright. It is like saying just because the Tsars of Russia had the title 'Caesar' - (tsar or czar is the Russian corruption of Caesar) that they worshipped Roman gods.
- Unfortunately, it seems Rakhine/Arakan's issue is where who gets the stronger backer and churn out as much literature, not place emphasis on coherence and just selectively quote it repeatedly until everybody thinks it is the truth (reminds me of a quotation of Joseph Goebbels). People tend to frame the past using their present perceptions of what they think is the truth - this is for every single society on Earth, not just the Rakhines or the Bengalis. But in doing so, we all alter history to conform to our current version of truth.
- But all and all, I meant no insults. If I did offend certain people, my apologies. Uthantofburma (talk) 08:27, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
There is a rohingya language. The Rohingya So-called rohingya orginally native of Arakan. They speak their own language. Although Rohingya Muslims are citizens and living in myanmar illegally. They are allowed by myanmar goverment to live here peacefully. The Rohingya are Rohingya Muslim but not Bangli. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aung zaw nyein (talk • contribs) 00:08, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
The problem is official goverment didn't know or care at all about WIKI. Most internet user from myanmar's are not educated Enough to read English's articles.. Those who Educated are old and they think Facebook is the internet... Kaungthaw (talk) 08:33, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
History
editI think the history section should focus on the history of Rakhine State itself. Right now, it's more a poorly written "story" of Rankine people with no citations. Hybernator (talk) 18:39, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- They are not illegal 43.255.23.43 (talk) 12:20, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
The Western World, who once conquered Rakhine (Arakan) and looted abundant amount of wealth should step up and reveal the true history of Rakhine. How the illegal Bengali were brought in to the Rakhine state. This can cease the conflict that has been taking place for decades. The British colonial is responsible for the conflict between Rakhine and illegal Bengali Muslims.
I am quite surprised to see them being the referee between these two groups. These might be because the British wish to see the end of Two communities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 43.245.44.121 (talk) 03:37, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

In the summary section of the upper right corner of the page, there is no mention of the Rohingya nor Islam. But Islam is more than 40% (according to this page's below details section) and Rohingya people are just short of Rakhaines percent. So these Rohingya and Islam should be added in the demographic summary section. Foyzulkarim (talk) 01:15, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Explanation of the term Rakshas or Rakkha in Etymology
editThe explanation that Rakshas means Ogres is quite wrong. Also, it has been mentioned that this is according to Hindu religious texts. No citations for such texts have been provided.
For the benefit of anyone who hasn't bothered to check, Raksha means protect in Hindi, Sanskrit and Rakshas is a protector. They are not considered gods but more like village protecting deities. We even celebrate a festival called Raksha-bandhan here in India where a brother swears to protect his sister.
Please remove those parts since they neither have citations nor are factual. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Solomonsunder (talk • contribs) 17:19, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
