Okay, we've been bold, and reverted, now it's time to discuss. I would like to see some hard evidence that the North Carolina town is the primary topic for this subject, particularly as I think Sir Walter Raleigh could be a significant contender. Now, please don't revert again (yes, that includes me), otherwise I might have to go to the edit warring noticeboard otherwise. Put your claims here. • If I had to pick a primary topic it would be the explorer, courtier, poet and soldier, with an hon. mensh. for the bicycle manufacturers. But I really think that on a global encyclopaedia such as this we cannot define any particular use as a clear primary. There are numerous incoming links not intended for the place in North Carolina, and these are of course much more easily detected and fixed while this page points to the dab page. Yes, I concur. I am happy to believe that in the US, most people may want the NC town, but what kicked this off is I was looking for something on the bicycle manufacturer, not knowing the exact article name and fully expecting a disambig. My first thought was the bicycle manufacturer, but, as my name reveals, I think a lot about bicycles. Web searches are are not conclusive but give an indication. Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo have the North Carolina city dominant but the bicycle maker and other uses are also there. Google Books is evenly split between the city and Sir Walter Raleigh. My thought would be that Raleigh should be a disambiguation page with the city, bike maker and explorer in the top section, probably in that order. SchreiberBike talk 21:57, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

To get to no primary topic, what you'll need is a move request to move the disambiguation page to the base name; otherwise it'll land on WP:MALPLACED. I see that in 2012 a cut-n-paste move of the dab was carried out. I'm about to temporarily delete the page to split the edit history and clean that up. -- JHunterJ (talk) 01:29, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
