Stanley style
editThe Stanley three-finger banjo picking style is not characterized by "incredibly fast backward rolls", but by strict forward rolls. Therefore did this little change in the main article. --Forquett (talk) 09:45, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
Distinctive voice
editCould someone explain in the article what makes his singing so distinctive? I've only heard him as an old man, but it doesn't seem very wonderful to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.240.208.99 (talk) 21:23, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- "Wonderful" is in the perception, but distinctive it certainly is: no one else sounds remotely like him. Paul Magnussen (talk) 16:13, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- I agree, however, if youy ever find youself in Ashe County North Carolina, you will note similiar patterns in speech and sound, at least, I did, could be different for youCoal town guy (talk) 16:11, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
I know he calls himself "Dr" Ralph Stanley. I believe the honorary degrees don't come with the right to run around calling yourself a "Dr". At least that was the way it was done when I was in college. "It is not customary, however, for recipients of an honorary doctorate to adopt the prefix 'Dr' " from Wikipedia!

To hear Ralph's distinctive singing, find the Ralph Stanley channel on Pandora. You'll hear alot of his singing as a young man with his brother. He had a great voice and could really sing.
James Alan Shelton
editHi everyone, I just created an article for James Alan Shelton, who plays in the Clinch Mountain Boys. Perhaps he'll fit in someplace in this article, if you see he fits =) SarahStierch (talk) 01:59, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Finger Poppin' Time
edit"Finger Poppin' Time" was recorded by Hank Ballard. It's hard for me to believe there was a Stanley Brothers version. Is this the same song? Kendall-K1 (talk) 01:14, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- As strange as it sounds, the Stanley Brothers indeed recorded a version of the same song. From what I understand, their weren't too thrilled about that, but the record company pressured it unto them. It stands as somewhat of a curiosity among their recordings.
