A fact from Ramadi appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 6 June 2015 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
|
Untitled
editRamadi city is triangle shape two sides of it is the brenches of euphorates ,the third is farms ......the fighting against US troops started at 29/ April/2003 just one day after US troops killed 7 civilians while peace activities against occupation in center of Ramadi.
Last Section NPOV?
editIt could probably be written in a less subjective way. Also, is there proof that "[Al Qaeda in Iraq] assumed that the new police would quit"
Importance of the Subject..
editI do not understand why this article is ranked so low in terms of importance. Ramadi is the heart of the Iraqi Awakening and has become peaceful after years of fighting. This is both an example of what can go right in the fight for Iraq and the heart of a movement that could effect the whole nation. I would say that it should rank higher. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brenlive (talk • contribs) 15:42, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
This area should be ranked higher. It is the main point for our military in Iraq. It would benefit people to know more about it as well as the current situation there.-RMEL- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.145.230.86 (talk) 15:13, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Neutrality and terms
editas it stands on the article:
By summer 2007, Ramadi had gone weeks without significant conflict or attacks, and has become a functioning capital of Al Anbar again. It is considered the most prominent success story of the counterterrorist campaign to date.
Counter insurgency yes, but terrorism, nah no need to use loaded terms like that to describe Iraqis battle againts the occupiers and their puppet government, please clean this article of the biassed filt. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.154.195.225 (talk) 16:09, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well, you say biased, and then you describe the iraqi government as puppet? Iraqiedit (talk) 05:46, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Off-topic discussion
editMuch of this article discusses the U.S. presence in Ramadi during Operation Iraqi Freedom. As important of a subject as this is, is is excessively dominant in this article, and should be redirected onto a different page discussing that aspect of Ramadi's history. From the unsigned, but Army-centric reporting, I would venture to guess that soldiers stationed in Ramadi filled in those sections. Ramadi's history delves far beyond 2003, and this article should reflect as such. --Stiche (talk) 22:34, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Anbar Awakening section
editThe al-Anbar Awakening Section has been removed, as it is grossly inaccurate and U.S.-centric biased. It fails to mention the arabic name, Sahawa al Anbar, fails to mention any of its founders, including Sheikh Abd al Sattar al-Rishawi, and suggests that its success was based off the blessings of a U.S. Army Brigade Commander which, although supportive in SAA's ability to grow, was not requisite. The section was not salvagable, and, in my opinion, not relevant to the actual Ramadi page. --Stiche (talk) 22:36, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
editCyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
