Notable Landmarks
editIs the Trump National Golf Course really a landmark? It's just a public sports facility, which happens to be owned by a famous property developer. I would imagine that it would be part of the "beautiful coast" landmark that includes the landslide area of. I drive by it all the time and it doesn't look any different from the other three golf courses on the Peninsula.
I would imagine that the Wayfarer's Chapel is a more significant landmark, better known and more associated with the identity of the coastal area than the golf course. Glowimperial 14:24, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
I agree. Something being owned by a rich man doesn't make it a landmark.
The golf course had a hole fall into the ocean (unusual) which in turn was repaired at a very high cost (also unusual). I think it qualifies as a landmark for those reasons (people have heard of it in the news and it therefore helps identify the city) not because of its name or who owns it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.100.237.143 (talk) 16:08, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Logo rancho palos verdes.png
editImage:Logo rancho palos verdes.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

- Support per the current consensus of the WP:USPLACE guidelines. (For those unfamiliar with the issues with this historically debated guideline, please see Wikipedia:Perennial proposals#Remove state from US placenames and Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (geographic names)/FAQ. The short answer is that a significant number of reliable sources in the United States commonly append the state to placenames. Thus we have a situation where WP:COMMONAME/WP:TIES conflict with WP:Disambiguation, and current consensus has chosen to go on the side of the former.) Zzyzx11 (talk) 08:16, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
- Support per WP:USPLACE. While I disagree with the guideline, the community consensus is clear. --Tt(talk/contribs) 04:13, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

Updating education and geography
editThe information about the education in Rancho Palos Verdes can be updated since the article uses the 2013 U.S. News report. The 2016 report from U.S. News about high schools is available with updated rankings for the two high schools. The geography section can also be updated to expand more on different aspects of Rancho Palos Verde's geography, including climate and the effect of human activity on the environment.
Orphaned references in Rancho Palos Verdes, California
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Rancho Palos Verdes, California's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
