Miranda - Randall - Randy

edit

Is there any proof that the name Miranda is from the same source as Randall? This comes from the Latin "mirandus" and is probably unrelated. I am removing this claim.

It is nonsense. Randall's Teutonic, and Miranda Latin. Fan-1967 00:19, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
It's convergent etymology -- in modern usage it's used as a female form (since there isn't one) which has nothing to do with the actual origins of the names
I have never heard of anyone making any connection at all between the names, except that occasionally (not commonly) the nickname Randy may be used for Miranda. I've never seen any reference to Miranda as a female form of Randall. Fan-1967 14:47, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Nope it's not nonsense; Oxford Dictionary of Names gives the feminine Randy as possibly being a pet form of Miranda.--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 07:14, 16 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
