Release Date
editAt the beginning of the article says "The album was released November 2, 1978 in Britain", in the Infobox December 2, 1978... -- Just a Beatles' Fan, Diegotóteles in Spanish Wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.174.16.228 (talk) 22:54, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Seperate Articles?
editThe British and American releases were, basically, different albums. As such wouldn't it be better if they were in seperate articles? --kingboyk 02:00, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
If someone has the American Rarities album cover to contribute to a separate page on the American version, I'm for it. The separate articles would be, for example, Rarities (Beatles Collection compilation) and Rarities (American Beatles compilation) How's that? Steelbeard1 04:03, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- I don't like the former, because wasn't the UK release available seperately too? I'd leave the British one here - as a British band, Beatles releases can be assumed British unless otherwise stated - and split the American release out to Rarities (American Beatles compilation). That's if people think the article should be split at all. What say you? --kingboyk 14:03, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Placed split proposal onto Wikipedia:WikiProject_The_Beatles/Article_Classification#Merge_candidates --kingboyk 15:21, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- I found an eBay listing with a good photo of the American Rarities LP at [1]. How is it?
- Not so good, because it has that ebay photo logo on it. Would be fine if it was trimmed. --kingboyk 16:48, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- The photo has to be cropped to the edges of the cover anyway before we can use it. That would eliminate the watermark. Steelbeard1 17:05, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- The photo was cropped, uploaded and inserted into the article. How is it? Now we can spin off the American Rarities article.
- Looking the end result myself, the only problem I see is the album is still in its shrinkwrap which is missing on the upper left corner and this is noticable. This was the best photo I could find today. If someone has a better photo, feel free to make the substitution. Steelbeard1 00:16, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

I created a separate article for the American Rarities album which is Rarities (American Beatles compilation) How is it? Steelbeard1 16:54, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- Good! I've edited both, and they're looking fine. I think it looks a lot better having seperate articles, do you agree?
- I put together some instructions on creating new articles which you probably didn't know about (but please read for future reference), so I have/will tidy up and make sure they're completed. So, yeah, great work, what are you gonna do next? :-) --kingboyk 17:53, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- The new US Rarities article is a good source for DYK worthy material such as the advance promo version of "Penny Lane" having extra piccolo trumpet notes at the end which were removed before the commercial single was released.
- Those facts were mostly on the old article too and whilst they are of great interest to the likes of you and me - fans - I'm not sure they're captivating enough for the front page. Just my 2 cents. --kingboyk 18:14, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
