Bob Marley and international "from Third World" stardom
editBob Marley is cited as the "first artist from the third world to attain international stardom"
However, Tom Jobim from Brazil is widely acknowledged as a international star, with his "Girl from Ipanema" song being recorded by many other international stars such as Frank Sinatra. From the Tom Jobim article: "In 1965 his album Getz/Gilberto was the first jazz album to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year." "His 1967 album with Frank Sinatra, Francis Albert Sinatra & Antônio Carlos Jobim, was nominated for Album of the Year in 1968."
Perhaps he was the first english speaking artist from the third world to attain international stardom? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abacatabacaxi (talk • contribs) 20:21, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
