Fair Use Images?

edit

In the licensing template attached to both of the screenshot images, it says that the image uses are believed to qualify as fair use: for identification of and critical commentary on the software in question

I fail to see how depicting a particular implementation of a type of software qualifies as "critical commentary."

While I do see how these images clearly enhance the article, I don't understand how the specifically-worded license terms are met.

Good point. There's also the fact that, according to Wikipedia's fair use policy, fair use images shouldn't be used where free alternatives are available. I've accordingly replaced the images in the article with free screenshots. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 15:47, 26 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I apologize. I didn't know that screenshots of proprietary programs could only be used when its needed to critique the program. Maybe I can get that screenshot put into the free domain by Helicon, but what kind of license would I put for the screenshot that I should ask for?Althepal 06:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
